About

Born and raised in Chicago, I grew up listening to Chicago House. You could usually find me tuning into Hot Mix 5 (Scott Smokin’ Silz, Kenny Jammin’ Jason, Farley Funkin’ Keith, Mickey Mixin’ Oliver and Ralphi Rockin’ Rosario) on 102.7fm WBMX.  Those guys where pioneers and they basically laid the groundwork for any DJ’s growing up in Chi-town.

One of my major influences was Bobby “D”. All you have to do is listen to any of his “Edit Crazy” mixes to understand what I’m talking about. Like most of the Chicago DJ’s, he had a unique style and character all his own. I could turn on the radio during that time and easily tell you who was mixing.

It was also listening to these DJ’s that opened my ears to a broad range of music. I started to listen to music from different decades because that was influencing what they were doing.  The way that these DJ’s were able to mix two songs together so well, no matter the year, inspired me. I wanted to become as good as them.

When I was 15, I started to DJ out of only one crate. Slowly, I built my record collection and my studio equipment evolved. I can remember mixing hours and hours in a hot attic in the summer and then freezing in the cold winter. It wasn’t easy, but it was all worth it.

It wasn’t long before I came out with a number of mix tapes in Chicago. One of the favorites was “Cruising To Classics.”  It almost never came to be, but after a friend heard it and said “You should put this out”, I took his advice and it was the best thing that I could have done.   The formula I created with that mix is the foundation of how I mix today.

In all my mixes, I want people to get lost in the music. When this happens, it brings me joy and is really why I love being a DJ.  I take pride in being able to get someone to go back in time in their mind, reminisce and have a good time.

After moving away from Chicago a number of years ago, I kept up with DJ’ing, but had to shift my focus to building my career and my family. Now, though, I have gotten that itch again and I have to scratch it. I started this website to keep in contact with my fans and to keep the mixes coming.

Thank you for visiting my site and for letting my mixes enter your homes, jobs, basements, parties, weddings, cars and special moments with the people you love and enjoy. I am back at this – for you.
